I liked this movie too I'm glad I'm not the only one! It's bad, no argument about that, but it was fun, and maybe I'm lame but The Fool scene actually really creeped me out and I thought The Magician scene was also pretty effective. I love all the Final Destinations and Truth or Dare which you mentioned, I just like this kind of movie a lot even when they're cheesy, sometimes even BECAUSE they're cheesy. Also, I agree that the ending was too humorous considering what just happened, but I kind of liked how it seemed like it was setting up a last second stinger or sequel bait thing towards the end with the "how do you know it really worked?" but then they didn't. I always find that kind of cheap so it was kind of refreshing for a movie like this to be like "yeah, we told you we broke the curse and we weren't lying, it is actually broken, this is the end of the movie", if that makes sense?

Honestly the blumhouse formula is to throw shit on the wall and see what sticks with the lowest budget that they can afford for each movie. so anytime a big unsuspecting hit happens, it pays off all the others and they can keep going. they rose in popularity for a while which is why they got a good name but I've always watched each movie with a bit of a skepticism just in case so i'm not dissapointed. But as you said, right now each of those movies are making just enough profit to keep going so now they don't even feel the need to do something that requires effort because that's how they used to pay the others off but now they know that they don't need to.

the first book i read by him was survive the night and i cannot get myself to read another of his books because of how much of a sour taste the ending left in my mouth. but maybe someday...

I also wanted to read The Watchers before I saw the movie. I did get my hands on it and i think whichever you intake first will ruin the other (if the movie follows the book closely). I think knowing the twist will take the suspension out of the film. Im far less excited for the movie having read the book. Even though I enjoyed the book.

I also loved this movie. Can’t really say why other than I had fun watching it.

Favourite bad movie - Alien vs Predator. The script is terrible. The acting is terrible. But it’s aliens fighting predators! I literally just watch it for that 😂😂

Absolutely losing my mind over someone saying the dialogue in The VVitch is historically inaccurate - they literally consulted extant historical documents in writing the script. Anyone who’s read anything from the 17th century knows how spot-on the writing is. And as someone living in Yorkshire, the accents are spot on as well! That movie is meticulously researched in every aspect. Just say you can’t comprehend anything written pre-1900 and go 🙄

so many promising movies this year, i'm very excited my most antecipated is for sure Cuckoo, i've been waiting for years, but i'm also very excited to watch Longlegs, Nosferatu, Maxxxine and Terrifier 3 Alien and this new Alexandre Aja one both look very interesting too, i'm seated! about my favorite movie of the year thus far, it's actually Lisa Frankenstein. does it count as horror? if not, my favorite is The First Omen, i was blown away by that one!!!

I’m excited for Longlegs. Atmospheric, moody horror with themes of the occult definitely does it for me. I think Nosferatu is going to be great too. And I predict the twist in Trap will be somehow tying it to the Sixth Sense.

The Crow (OG) is one of my favorite movies & comics ever. I've never connected with the sequel movies, but I'm interested in seeing this new one. My main thought is I love this story and if it's redone well, with an actor I like (Sarsgaard is always a plus), I hope it spawns a good series to follow. It will never replace Brandon Lee's film, but maybe it can be a fun continuation of the vibe.

I wasn't expecting to like The Strangers Prey At Night and ended up loving it so maybe this reboot will surprise me again. Super excited for Longlegs, The Watchers and Cuckoo.

I think AI images aren’t as harmful as people make them seem. If they can get images cheap they should be aloud to. It’s not about ethics it’s about technology and the future. It’s about making things easier to produce for our entertainment. AI does compare to human art sadly and we just need to accept that. Boycotting a movie isn’t going to change it.

Cuckoo is a remake of a European film

Thank you for being able to dismiss something as not true "Found Footage". I think the term gets thrown around more loosely now just to pique interest. I had a debate with someone on Twitter about "One Cut of the Dead". They argued that its one of their very favorite found footage films. I pushed back because I thought for something to be found footage there has to be footage that was lost, then rediscovered, and the footage is needed to piece together what happens to certain people. With One Cut of the Dead, there are elements that feel found footage, sure, but ultimately, this is a live broadcast that the audience is all discovering at the same time. Its never actually lost. Never mind the fact that its a planned and rehearsed movie for broadcast. Its a production. Nobody is missing. There is no mystery to what happened that the footage will fill us in on. It is a tv channel broadcasting a movie that they are in charge of...in real time. We're not looking back on something that happened in the past, its happening NOW so we're not actually finding any footage. Anyway, I feel that found footage is something that has to be at one point lost, and the footage is piecing together what happened. LAte Night disqualifies itself in my opinion, with the behind the scenes stuff.

The Watchers is a phenomenal book! I'm so happy to see it getting more mainstream attention now that the movie is coming out.

I think three in a year could work (if they are good) because I really like fear street being released back to back on Netflix!

I recommend the French 2007 movie "Inside" (don't watch the 2016 US version of the same title; it's a very poor remake). Since you enjoyed the original French movie "Martyrs", I'm sure you will enjoy this movie!

Have you watched The Strangers: Prey at night? It’s not the best movie ever made but I enjoy the stylistic choices and vibe as well as the soundtrack. Worth a watch if you haven’t yet. <3

I am really looking forward to Violent Nature, Cuckoo, and Longlegs! I am the same way about reading the book before seeing the movie..I just picked up Starve Acre by Andrew Michael Hurley because the folk horror film version is set to be released sometime this Fall I believe. It stars Morfydd Clark and Matt Smith..and I absolutely loved Clark in Saint Maud! <3
